I've painted lots of pears over the years, I'm not sure why I like them so much. Maybe it's because they seem to be at their best when they've been through their worst with a few blemished spots and a bruise or two....that character of having lived seems to add something to their taste and appearance.
So, compositionally this is a simple painting, with the pears slightly left of center wedged between these islands of watermelon and colander with a glass of seeds justs entering the front row.
Increasingly my work has included more varied surface textures. I really add these surfaces as a challenge that I find fun to paint which benefits the work by adding visual interest; this one has glass, seeds, fruit, metal and wood. Not a bad start.
I hopefully I'll have some more paintings up on the weekend.
